Sorry for the delay, but here is the first blog of the 2019-2020 school year!  Here is the homework for 8th grade: Religion: Memorize Hymn 446 v. 1-4; Write a paragraph about what it means to be a proactive Christian teen. Catechism:  Watch the videos on Canvas for tomorrow.  Answer questions 1-11 on the worksheet for tomorrow.  Read p. 20-25 in the Catechism and take the Martin Luther quiz by Thursday. We watched God's Not Dead at the beginning of school today. In math, both courses had regular sets and Mrs. Witte talked to us about the math contest in Oshkosh tomorrow. We started learning how to use adjectives in the Latin language in class before PE. In phy-ed, we ran the mile to finish up Physical Fitness Testing. After PE, we had language arts, in which we continued looking at Flowers for Algernon . After lunch, we helped the kindergarteners with a Teacher Appreciation Week activity. We watched CNN 10 and finished up the music presentations from a few weeks ago. We had a little bit of study time at the end of the day. We began our day with Catechism practice. It is going okay but definitely needs work. We took our math MAPS Test in place of math time. We had a quiz in history and started a new project for next Tuesday. Science included reviewing our human cloning papers and going through the test review sheets. After lunch, we had choir practice. Remember tonight at 5:30 to be here to get ready for dress rehearsal. Afterward, we have Confirmation pictures. Chapel kicked off our day today. We worked on songs for upcoming services. C3 had a math test. History contained taking notes from the lesson. After history, we had intramurals because we didn't have time after chapel to do it. Before lunch, we did some language arts. After lunch, we baked and ate our cookies in IE time. First off today, we had Catechism, where we continued work on our Living Lord's Supper performance. C3 had a math test, and A1 had a set. In history, we learned about the Transcontinental Railroad completed in America after the Civil War. We ran the mile for the first time this spring in phy-ed today. We did CLK work, grammar, and descriptive paragraph work in language arts. After lunch, we had art. We are in the glass mosaic project right now. We started today with religion. We learned some more about Jehovah's Witness. Math included regular sets for both courses. In Latin, we corrected our assignment and took the quiz. We continued our floor hockey unit in PE. We did grammar and Chasing Lincoln's Killer . After lunch, we had IE, where we began a cooking unit (?!). Today we started with religion. We had the hymn test and learned about Jehovah's Witness. Math was all about Pi Day. We had a fire drill, which decreased the time for history class. After history, we had science in the lab. We are learning about DNA. After lunch, we had logic and music. We had 15 minutes of study time at the end of the day. We started today with Friday chapel. Joyful Praise sang for the service. C3 had a math test today, and A1 had a set. In history, we had Mrs. Wuenne as a replacement for Mr. Walta, who is currently at a teacher's conference in Sturgeon Bay. We looked farther into the process of mitosis in science. We performed the different phases of mitosis with gym equipment today. We had logic in IE before lunchtime. After lunch, we continued our progress in our persuasive essays. We also began reading our new novel, Chasing Lincoln's Killer . We had a half-hour of study time at the end of the day. Today is was wild 'n wacky day, tomorrow is Animal day. Dress as an animal or in animal print clothing. Today is also national hat day! Great excuse to wear some weird hats Don't forget to bring change for the change war. Also, the pep rally is on Thursday, so invite some family to come and watch. It should be a fun event! There are  math tests tomorrow for course three and algebra 1. Don't forget to return the sheets choosing which service your family will be attending for Christian Education week.

Happy Thursday!  We had a great day learning about all sorts of different careers at MPTC this morning.  When we came back we learned what our new classroom jobs would be and then read some more from "The Witch of Blackbird Pond."  In the afternoon, we learned about Elvis Presley and the three musicians who died in a plane crash on what came to be known as "The Day the Music Died." Remember your mission money tomorrow!

Today we started by going down to the first-grade classrooms for their bible time and continued watching Genisis History.   For math, C3  did a game about y-intercept.  Next, for history, we talked about the Jacksonian Democracy and the rise of Andrew Jackson. Today we had our chapel service that included 3 baptisms. For intramurals, we continued playing basketball. Next, we had math C3 talked about slope. After, we had a normal history lesson. Then we had talked about cells, atoms, and molecules for science. Towards the end of the day, we did finger knitting, hung out with the preschoolers and continued Wonder. Have a great week!
